Kamal Palace

Overview

Located at 6374 Pacific Coast Hwy, Long Beach, CA, Kamal Palace is a hidden gem for anyone craving flavorful and authentic Indian cuisine. From the moment you step through its doors, you’re welcomed by a warm ambiance that sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The restaurant is perfect for a cozy date night, family gathering, or even a casual lunch with friends. The combination of stellar service, fresh ingredients, and traditional recipes makes it a standout in the bustling Long Beach food scene.

The menu at Kamal Palace offers a wide array of dishes, with options that cater to all preferences. Whether you’re in the mood for a spicy curry, a savory appetizer, or a sweet dessert, there’s something for everyone. A crowd favorite is their Chicken Tikka Masala, which is rich in flavor with a perfect balance of spices. The creamy tomato-based sauce is well-seasoned and pairs beautifully with basmati rice. If you’re a fan of bold flavors, their Lamb Rogan Josh is a must-try. Slow-cooked to perfection, the lamb is tender and absorbs the aromatic spices of the dish, making each bite a delight.

Vegetarian options are plentiful at Kamal Palace, with dishes like Baingan Bharta (roasted eggplant curry) and Saag Paneer (spinach with cottage cheese) providing a fresh and hearty taste. Their Chana Masala, made with chickpeas in a tangy and spiced tomato gravy, is another favorite. It's an ideal choice for anyone looking for a flavorful yet healthy option.

The restaurant doesn’t stop at just the mains-its selection of sides and appetizers are equally impressive. The Samosas are golden and crisp, with a perfectly spiced potato filling that pairs wonderfully with mint chutney. The Onion Bhaji is another great starter, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, offering a light but satisfying snack before your main course.

One thing that truly sets Kamal Palace apart is their commitment to offering a true taste of India. The chef uses time-honored techniques and only the freshest ingredients, ensuring each dish is prepared with care and authenticity. The attention to detail is evident in every bite, from the delicate spice blends to the perfect consistency of the sauces. The restaurant takes pride in its ability to balance flavors so that each dish offers something unique without overwhelming the palate.

For dessert, you can’t go wrong with the classic Gulab Jamun. These deep-fried dough balls soaked in rosewater syrup are the perfect sweet ending to your meal. The richness of the syrup combined with the soft texture of the dough balls is a delightful contrast to the spiciness of the main courses. Additionally, the Kheer, a rice pudding flavored with cardamom, saffron, and almonds, offers a comforting and light finish to the meal.

Kamal Palace stands out not only for its food but also for its atmosphere. The interior is tastefully decorated with a blend of traditional and modern elements, offering a cozy yet upscale dining experience. The staff is friendly and attentive, always ready to offer recommendations and ensure that your dining experience is smooth and enjoyable. Whether you’re a regular or a first-time guest, the welcoming vibe of Kamal Palace makes it easy to feel at home.

AMAZING. The food, the ambience, the service, the value. I've been wanting to come here ever since I saw it and I'm so glad we did. They have a buffet but only from 11am - 2:30pm. The spices, the flavor, the portions! Exceptional. I can't remember the last time I truly enjoyed a restaurant meal.

We’ve been meaning to try Kamal Palace for a long time and finally ordered delivery through Uber Eats. We got the Chana masala, mutter paneer, and bhindi masala—everything was flavorful, came with rice, and paired perfectly with some roti we heated at home. The spice level (we ordered mild) was spot on—perfect for enjoying the flavors without being overwhelmed, and easy to add extra heat at home if you want. It honestly reminded us of home-style cooking, which was comforting. The only downside was the oiliness—if the dishes were made with less oil, this could easily become our go-to Indian spot in Long Beach. Overall, really good food and definitely worth ordering again.

Considering the quality of the food, this is a proper diamond in the buffet rough for $17. Highly recommend if you're a fan of Indian cuisine. The flavors are very modestly muted for the American palette but is still packed full of spices and seasoned accordingly. Bonus for the waterfront seating that's available and the garlic naan they give at the beginning too.

We went for their Lunch Buffet and had a great meal. It was $18 each, which is a good price anymore. The restaurant was more than half full on a Saturday, the waiters were very friendly and pleasant, and the buffet selection was excellent. My husband went back 3 times, and I twice. We sat in their outdoor space with a lovely view over water.

I recently visited Kamal Palace Restaurant and had a fantastic experience! We went for the buffet, and it was absolutely amazing — a great variety of delicious dishes, all fresh and full of flavor. The appetizers were a standout too — the pakoras were crispy and perfectly spiced, and the momos were juicy and flavorful. The service was warm and welcoming, and the overall ambiance made it a comfortable place to enjoy a great meal. Whether you’re looking for a casual buffet or tasty appetizers to share, Kamal Palace delivers. Definitely recommend checking it out!
